National Park Wall Art: 11 Painterly Prints for Cabins, Living Rooms and Offices
Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Bryce Canyon and more, painted in thick warm oils. Which park suits which room, and the sizes that work above a sofa, a mantel or a desk.
National park posters have been around for almost a century, and most of them are flat graphic prints. We wanted the parks the way they feel when you are standing in them: thick paint, big light, weather. Here are eleven painterly national park prints from the atelier, with a note on where each one belongs.
1. Yosemite: El Capitan
The granite wall in late light. Our Yosemite painting is the one to go big with, 24" x 36" or larger above a sofa or a mantel.
2. Yellowstone: the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
Falls, mist and that yellow rock. The Yellowstone waterfall is tall rather than wide, which makes it a natural fit for a narrow wall or a stair landing.
3. Grand Teton: the barn and the mountains
The Grand Teton barn is a cabin classic; it belongs above a fireplace or in a dining room with wood walls.
4. Bryce Canyon: hoodoos at sunrise
Orange, pink and improbable. The Bryce Canyon print warms up a room with cool grey or white walls.
5. Great Smoky Mountains
Layered blue ridges and morning fog. The Smoky Mountains scene is calm enough for a bedroom.
6. Mount Rainier in wildflower season
Meadows of lupine and paintbrush under the glacier. The Rainier wildflower painting is the brightest in the group and a favorite for kitchens and sunrooms.
7. Big Bend
Desert light on the Chisos Mountains. The Big Bend painting pairs well with terracotta, leather and Southwest textiles; see more in Southwest wall art.
8. Grand Canyon with riders
A western scene rather than a pure landscape: cowboys on horseback at the rim. A study, a den or a boy's room.
9. Mesa Verde
The cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde in golden stone, quieter and more architectural than the others; good above a desk.
10. Muir Woods
Redwoods, fog and green light. The Muir Woods forest is tall and vertical, perfect beside a bookcase or in an entry.
11. The Everglades
An alligator at sunset in the sawgrass. The Everglades painting is the surprise of the set and a Florida favorite.
