Bar Cart Wall Art: How to Style a Home Bar with Cocktail Prints

Negroni, espresso martini, old fashioned or spritz: how to pick the right cocktail painting for your bar cart, what size to hang and how to build a small gallery wall above it.

A bar cart is a small stage. The bottles and glassware are the cast; the wall behind it is the set. The fastest way to make a cart look intentional rather than stored is one good painting hung just above it. Here is how we would choose it, size it and, if you want, grow it into a small gallery wall.

Pick the drink you actually make

The best cocktail art is personal. If your house pour is a negroni, hang a negroni painting or the moodier negroni still life. Espresso martini people have an espresso martini print of their own; whiskey drinkers will want the old fashioned or the Manhattan. For summer carts there is the Italian spritz, the gin and tonic and the Havana mojito. A classic martini is the safe, timeless pick.

Or pick the room

If the bar is in a den or a study, go darker. The speakeasy whiskey bar and the 1960s Italian aperitivo scene both read as old paintings and sit well with leather and dark wood. In a bright kitchen corner, the spritz or a wine and cheese still life keeps things light.

Add a character

Half of our bar cart collection is animals who clearly own the place: a black cat with a martini, a ginger cat at the champagne bar, a frenchie with a negroni or a rabbit raising a glass. One character piece beside one straight cocktail still life is a combination that always works. See all of them in dog wall art and cat wall art.

Sizes that fit a bar cart

  • Standard cart (about 30" wide): one 16" x 20" canvas, or a 12" x 16" pair side by side.
  • Wide console or sideboard bar: one 18" x 24" or 24" x 30", centered, spanning roughly two-thirds of the furniture's width.
  • Height: leave 8 to 12 inches between the top of the bottles and the bottom of the frame so nothing looks crowded.
  • Gallery wall: three pieces in one size, 2 to 3 inches apart. Three or more prints are automatically discounted with Bundle & Save.

Frames

Black frames are the natural choice for cocktail art; they echo the dark backgrounds and make the glassware glow. Natural wood softens a bar in a kitchen or a sunroom. Every piece is printed on museum-grade cotton canvas and hand-framed in solid wood, ready to hang. Browse the full Bar Cart collection or jump straight to cocktail wall art.
