Amalfi Coast Wall Art: Bringing Positano, Capri and Ravello Home
Which Amalfi scene suits which room, how to pair a coastal view with a lemon still life, and the sizes that make a painted Mediterranean view work above a sofa or a bed.
People come back from the Amalfi Coast wanting to keep one thing: the light. Pastel houses stacked on a cliff, lemon trees, water so blue it looks painted already. A photograph rarely holds it. A painting can, which is why Amalfi Coast wall art is one of the most-requested themes in the atelier. Here is how to choose the right scene and make it work in your home.
Positano: the one everyone recognizes
The stacked village seen from the water is the Amalfi image. Our Positano painting is the piece to hang above a sofa or a bed, where it can be big; 24" x 30" or larger lets the houses read one by one. If the room is smaller, the same view framed by shutters in the Amalfi open window works beautifully at 16" x 20" in a kitchen or a hallway.
Capri: blue, blue and more blue
Capri gives you two very different paintings. The Faraglioni rocks are dramatic and sculptural, a strong choice for a living room with white walls. The Blue Grotto is darker and more intimate, and surprisingly good in a bathroom or a bedroom where you want calm rather than sunshine.
Ravello, Sorrento and Procida: the quieter coast
If you would rather have the coast than the postcard, look at the bougainvillea lane in Ravello, the Sorrento marina or the pastel harbor of Procida. These are the pieces that get asked about at dinner because they are not the scene everybody has seen.
Pair a view with the table
The Amalfi Coast is as much about lemons as cliffs. In a kitchen or dining room, hang one coastal scene and one still life from the same light: a Positano view with the Amalfi lemon tree, or a Sorrento harbor with an Italian spritz. The landscape brings depth; the still life brings the table. More of these in Italian kitchen wall art.
Keep going along the coast
Many Amalfi collectors end up with a small Italian wall. The Manarola, Cinque Terre painting and the Cinque Terre open window share the same pastel palette; Lake Como through shutters adds green and cool blue. Three pieces at one size, hung in a row, make a hallway feel like a trip. See the full Italy wall art collection and the open window paintings.
Sizes and frames
- Above a sofa: 24" x 30" to 30" x 40", centered, about two-thirds of the sofa's width.
- Above a bed: one wide canvas or a pair, with the bottom of the frame 6 to 10 inches above the headboard.
- Kitchen or hallway: 16" x 20" open window scenes, hung at eye level like a real window.
- Frames: white or natural wood keep the coast light; black makes the blues deeper and suits darker rooms.
Every piece is painted in warm oils, printed on museum-grade cotton canvas and hand-framed in solid wood, ready to hang. Browse the whole Amalfi Coast collection or read our Italian kitchen wall art ideas.
